Foot Pain treatment at Med Wellness
Understanding foot pain

Your feet are the foundation for everything you do on them, so pain here can quickly ripple up into the ankles, knees, hips and back as you change the way you move to avoid it. The most common culprit is plantar fasciitis — pain under the heel and arch — but forefoot overload, tendon issues and joint pain are also frequent.

Foot pain usually relates to a mismatch between load and capacity: a spike in walking or running, a change in footwear, tight calves, or the demands of standing all day. Understanding that balance is the key to both treating it and preventing it returning.

We assess how your foot loads and moves through the step, then combine hands-on treatment, calf and foot strengthening, and practical footwear and load advice to settle the pain at its source.

Common causes

  • Plantar fasciitis from overload of the arch's support tissue
  • Tight or weak calf muscles increasing strain on the foot
  • A rapid increase in walking, running or standing
  • Unsupportive or worn-out footwear
  • Forefoot overload, bunions or toe-joint irritation

Signs & symptoms

  • Sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning
  • Aching under the arch or ball of the foot
  • Pain that eases with movement then returns after rest
  • Discomfort that worsens through a day on your feet
  • Pain in particular shoes or when barefoot
Our approach

How we treat foot pain

A clear, step-by-step path from settling your symptoms to lasting recovery — tailored to you at every stage.

01

Movement assessment

We examine your foot, ankle and calf, watch how you load through the step, and identify what's overloading the painful tissue.

02

Settle the pain

Soft-tissue therapy, stretching and short-term load adjustments calm the irritated structures so walking becomes comfortable again.

03

Strengthen the foundation

A progressive calf and foot-strengthening program builds the capacity your feet need to handle daily load without flaring.

04

Footwear & load advice

We guide you on supportive footwear, orthotic options if helpful, and how to safely build back your walking or running.

Your recovery

What to expect

Plantar fasciitis and most foot pain respond well to a consistent loading and stretching program, though they can be stubborn and reward patience — meaningful change usually takes several weeks to a few months.

Once settled, the focus shifts to building enough strength and load tolerance that the pain doesn't return when you increase your activity again.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about foot pain and how we treat it.

Why is my heel worst first thing in the morning?

Overnight the plantar fascia tightens, so the first steps stretch and irritate it. A short morning routine and the right loading program help enormously.

Do I need orthotics?

Sometimes they help as a short-term tool, but they're rarely the whole answer. Strengthening and load management address the root cause.

Should I stop walking or running?

Usually we modify rather than stop. Finding the right dose keeps you active while the tissue recovers.
